Yes, it is absolutely true… if you join too many lists, you get an information overload that simply distracts you… I am becoming aware of the imperative need to focus, select a niche to develop and, say it again: FOCUS
Thank you Michael, you always provide very valuable information, your list will most definitely remain in my Inbox.
Straighforward, down to earth, sensible advice. I too have made the mistakes, particularly 5 and six. Made me smile when I heard them. Listen to Michael, he knows what he is talking about, and not a sales pitch in sight! How refreshing!!
i do not have a website yet. right now i am trying to figure out as much as i can about making money omline. i do not know the first thing about it. i want to know how to really do it without having a big headache in the process. i do not know how to blog or write articles or anything else that seems to be the common niches.i need someones help so i can make money online. and i want it to be the truth.
Brilliant advice Michael. A back to basics audio worth it’s 5Megs in gold. I for one much appreciate your time & effort spent on our behalf.
My very best to you Micheal & thanks again.
Max Rowby
Thanks for this great audio. You are one of the top internet marketing experts that I look upto for guidance and support. The audio recording was very detailed and informative. I learned a lot from you.
Thanks for the great information. This is good information for any new person wanting to learn to promote on the web. I know it will be useful for any newbie.
hey michael,
Well i am totally on the opposite and have not been on the forums as of yet. Got any suggestions. I have been floating for a year now on a niche choice. But good info just what i needed
Hi mike i very much enjoy listening and watching your videos.
You come across very honest and sincere. Please send me all
your stuff.I have been doing this almost 2 years and have not done very well.I just cant imagine what it takes to make it work.I have just about given up a couple times.I seem to have the most problem with email list autoresponder setup. It seems very complicated to give away a product and putting it all together as far as landing page and thank you page and download page its mind boggleing.I owe google 2000 dollars and dont have it so I cant use ppc oh i owe all the other search engines too.PLEASE HELP!! thanks again TOM
hi michael cheney, is laurance vm, in last the 2 years I follow the main people of the enclosure for bullfighting corporate affliate as well as I you, some strategies of I vary scales of the small one to the greater, I left signed signed to newsletter to member of a group to put nor I would imagine this great industry of meeting me, I I am preparing myself of little by little with things and to enter to invoice, I if did not you I know but I do not know English, he to a large extent harms me to this of the development to put I will fazerei an intensive course of English to enter in corporate networking, and will follow you and all a business-oriented roster of this areaque I already know: ) , when I to enter estara total opened, soon to develop abilities. thanks I read its email when I can:)
Great Great Great!!! Im just getting started on twitter and the one product I purchased has helped me tremendousoly. RSS feed, bit.ly, blogging and all sorts of other things I would have never learned on my own. I think this training was amazing! thank you
Hi Michael, great info and most was painfully familiar !
Having made this audio, its obvious that you have been where i,and many others are at this present moment, and i think this will help a lot of us “newbies” get on,and stay on track, its great to hear stuff like this, and we often hear of how some internet “guru” struggled for so many months years, whatever the time frame was,and then they suddenly “cracked it” or had that “light bulb moment” or they came accross someone or something that changed everything! ive been following you for a few weeks having heard about you from john thornhill, and what would be fantastic would be your own storey in more detail, how exactly you got started, what was that first product you bought, somthing to bridge that gap between failing and succeeding! thanks for all the great info you give us and look forward to lots more.simon
Hey, Michael.
Great post! I’ve run afoul of pretty much all of these “no-no’s” myself at one point or another, and can attest to this being excellent advice.
And to all the folks still working to make it happen, keep at it! It’s worth persisting through what sometimes can be a very difficult journey!
A great audio. I didn’t think you did anything besides video any more!
I agree with you completely about buying products. Robert Plank came up with a good rule when purchasing products. “If you aren’t going to use it within 24 hours don’t buy.”
Which goes well with my personal philosophy don’t buy anything that is not going to move you closer to your goals.
I also talked about the unrealistic goals in my Magic Button post on my newest blog. Linked from name.
You are very insightful and down to earth. That is why people are able to identify with you. The result is trust in your word. Your 9 newbie mistakes hit home, resulting in a lot of introspection. (You should do a joint venture with Travis Sago of Bum Marketing Method, as he also gains people’s trust through his “folksy” style. Both of you are “like the rest of us.” (except for your income and knowledge base)
Question: Is CPA difficult to get started in? Have you done anything with CPA?
I score a point on 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8 !
It has always been that I want to learn how to make money myself, so that I can help other people make money.
Hey Michael thanks for that awesome audio. It really helped me get everything into perspective with where I want to go with this. I have bought some information and was not quite sure where to go with it but now I think I can begin. Cheers for that
Hi Mike
thanks for this information. It’s interesting that you make the remark about forums because there are some trainers in internet marketing that suggest you spend quite a bit of time interacting in this venue. Actually, I’m relieved that you make this suggestion because I find the forums for the most part boring. I think it is a good place to learn stuff, and post questions, but it can consume your time.
Eric Holmlund (Eric’s tips) suggests that most forums are full of newbies struggling in the same position you are in, and your efforts become somewhat counterproductive.
BTW his first remark in his first audio is “Stop buying stuff”. I think as a newbie you need to buy things in very small quantities, so you can completely assimulate it. It’s really easy to become bogged down with too much information.
You are great! You are very funny! I like you!
Thank you:>!
I do everything you say!(ha,ha,ha)!!!
Love everything you say!
I hope I have enough room in my head for
more info from you!(ha,ha,hee…sorry just
a little humor, cause I think you understand,
don’t mean to be rude..just love the way to
bring this information to light:>
I look forward to listening to you again.
Please help me…I need you desperately!
Thank you..Thank you…so much!
What about no no #10 ???
NOT having fun along the way!! Take time to enjoy life, family friends and community! )
Enjoyed your spirit and audio. Love the accent! lol
Hi Michael:
I thought your video was very informative. Truer words were never spoken, a lot of people just don’t think in the right frame of mind including myself of course, which makes it very difficult to succeed. Like you said it’s not all about money.
Very sound advice. When I start cranking I’ll keep you posted Michael. BTW did you actually get my America’s Cup/Yacht photos? More recently the pictures of my brother and myself at a crew regatta? Just wondering how severe your filter system is and if I should not bother thinking these could get forewarded to you. May your Cash Canons load easily and shoot true. Neil
Great to hear from you, we have spoken before via your Golden thread program, which was great! I miss it.
What can I say but just spot on No no’s.
The number one thing I think is the information overload coming from having too many emails and info coming from being on too many lists.
It can take all day going through the emails and you find that you have got nothing done. Really frustrtating but at the same time you want to learn as much as you can and not wanting to miss the next thing that is available.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I hope one day we can talk in person, I know you more than you know me right?
Hi Michael,
Enjoyed 9 newbie no nos very much. Thank you–it always helps to know someone is out there lending moral support. This venture has been so frustrating at times it is hard to focus and keep a positive attitude. There have been days that I just want to give it up.
Dear Michael
I can’t thank you enough for this audio, so generous in
information for people like me, newbies.
I’m taking action on your recomendations, don’t want to
be redundant, the 9 of them are 100% truth and are
happening to me at this moment.
Is a great feeling you know, like yourself being just
by my side telling me “enough Roberto”, this is the way
it should be in order to be succesful in this business.
Thanks again. God bless you
Totally agree with point 2- Joining too many lists in the beginning. I have most definately felt the information overload from signing up to too many lists. I’ll be taking action right now by unsubscribing to all those not relevant to my style of marketing. Will be staying on yours due to the info, such as this, that you give away freely to help others.
This one action of getting rid of unwanted continuous emails will save me loads of time and make me much more focused on the task at hand. Thanks again.
Thank you, Michael!
It’s sad but I can relate to probably 6 or 7 of your Newbie No-nos and listening to you define them made me realize it’s time to get off my backside and do something instead of being a professional IM student!
Very good audio! I am guilty of at least three of these. One of the hardest things for me as a newbie, is that I feel I am alone. It would be helpful to have someone to bounce ideas off of or ask questions to. Sometimes they are the smallest of challenges that I think an experienced internet marketer may not address. Newbie may mean new to making money online, new to using a computer and new to even the language of the internet. As I someday become an expert at this and am successful, I would also like to help others. I am passionate about teaching, and I would especially like to help newbies. Thanks for a great audio!
Leah Miller-passionate newbie
Michael, absolutely incredible information for newbies and even anyone who hasn’t heard this before. I know there are a lot of pitfalls on the internet and you discussed just about all of them here. Yes I have tons of stuff on my hard drive but a lot of PLR products I can sell. So it’s not a total mash up. Anyway I have been following your videos for awhile and obviously am on your list but you’ve given me a lot of useful info. so appreciate it. So that’s about it for now, thanks for the 9 newbie no no’s. Very nice and no upsell at the end cool. Thanks, Joseph
Thanks Michael. Great Video. Great Content. Great words of wisdom. I’m guilty of some of these myself. Haven’t had a chance to be guilty of some of the others because I’m too new to IM – but now I hope that I can avoid them.
you are absolutely spot on about your meager beginings, as i’m now there…months of trying all sorts of new products…being bombarded with a wealth of information…and now at my wits end….the next step is for me is to packup….and go back to finding a 50hr a week job…to pay for all the money i now owe debtors….this is really got me thinking again positively….thanx Mike,i’ll keep on trying…..
Great content as usual. You’re always entertaining and informative. I believe that just about anyone new in Internet Marketing should listen to this recording.
I’ve caught myself doing several of these things over the last few months, and can say without a doubt that they’re easy to fall into and not even realize it.
Great post, enjoyed listening to it. I have made several of the mistakes you mentioned. I have not built up my list at all and will now start to build a list.
The points you make in “9 Newbie No No’s” would have saved me countless hours wasted on “chasing too many rabbits” at once. Your presentation is clearly going to benefit a whole
lot of people…assuming people starting out listen closely and use the information to their advantage!
It seems to me that even so-called veteran marketers would do well to give this audio a close listen. Many thanks for your efforts.
Only someone who’s been there, and has succeeded in spite of all the mistakes, can explain those mistakes as honestly and as straightforwardly as Michael has done.
Yes, I’ve had those “drowning in new email offers” days too, and Michael knows about their perils, AND his solution makes sense – it’s not quick half-advice at all.
Not only will I give him more credence and attention from now on, but I’ll be passing on the URL for this audio to a few friends!
Dear Michael!
Thank You for this great message!
I am a “newbee” who already realized these risky things, and about to change. Your warnings are very valuable, thanks for them!
Sandor
Hi Michael,
I really enjoyed and appreciated your ‘newbie no no’s’, but I’ll tell you something, your are made for VIDEO’S! I really look forward to those because I not only learn from them, but I get a good laugh as well. You are just a breath of fresh air, Michael!! That’s all there is to say, except for “Thank you for caring about us struggling out here on the Internet”. See ya! Jean Baron
Hey Mike
Great audio I wouldn’t consider myself a complete newbie as I’ve been doing internet marketing full time for about 6 months trying to learn all the latest most advanced strategies.
The problem with this is sometimes you forget the basics I’ve written all 9 points out and stuck them up as a constent reminder to myself and I recommend everyone else no matter what your experince does the same.
Thanks Michael!
You hit me square between the eyes with most of the Nine.
I have tried to “go it alone”, I have bought too much, I get too involved in email, etc., although my commitment is solid, my focus is scattered everywhere. And most of all, I keep desperately chasing the money (which eludes me) instead of trying to help people with their problems in one area. Thanks for the “slap in the face” perhaps I will “get there” starting today!
Michael,
It is amazing how many forget some of the basics and how many more have no clue. The mentality of wanting things to happen “TODAY” hurts all. People that want it now and marketers that want ‘you’ now is overwhelming. Each of those 9 points are what almost everyone struggles with and not one of the programs being offered talks about them. Appreciate the time you took and plan to send others to re-listen to these points.
Look forward to quality content you provide since you are one of the three email lists I still subscribe too.
Thanx, for me the advice is priceless.
Iam really new and have spent over500 dollars without a single dollar return, but I will persevere as you did, Currently I just want 100-300 dollars per day so I can reinvest for my next step- sometimes I feel like somebody is not paying my commission, how do you explain getting 300 clicks without a single sale using ppc , google?
Anyway thanx a lot, no no number 3 and 4 are right on for me.
Hi, Michael!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED YOUR AUDIO ABOUT THE 9 NEWBIE NO-NOs.
IT IS REALLY GREAT, AND YOU ARE TOTALLY RIGHT! YOU REALLY KNOW YOUR STUFF!
THANKS A LOT! YOU’VE REALLY HELPED ME TODAY!
Note: Almost everything I just wrote is in capital letters and there are lots of exclamation marks, too, that is BECAUSE I AM VERY EXCITED!!! THANKS AGAIN, MICHAEL!
Thank You Mike for your help with the nine no no’s. I am a newbie to internet marketing. I am still looking for my niche. This audio was very informative. I have been looking into this for a couple of weeks. There is a lot out there to digest. I will keep your advice in mind….Kathy
Thank you Michael, for your continued emails to me. I to have commited some of the ” 9 ” no no’s. In desperation I got involved with “six figures yearly ” soon as I have the money, I will get the advertizing needed. This is as an affiliat to there program. Anyway, I listened to your audio, and am convinced ” your the man “! ha,ha. From now on, I will pay more attention to ya. Thanx.
Thanks, for the audio. I’m actually not making any dime right now, getting very frustrated and I in its full time ! I have a family to raise and I ‘m not moving forward. As you can see from the site I given I’m actually promoting your stuff ( which I bought from you lately). please give me some advise as to how to make it happen for me. I’m trying to build a list, but I don’t know how to do it effectively ! Can you help? I’m into Affiliate Marketing since November 2008. I ‘m considering PLR niche by acquiring a turnkey system with website selling PlR products( ResellRightsHeaven ) Should I go ahead ? I look forward to hear from you.
Hi Michael, I’ve been part of your list since you launched the Golden Thread program. I have stayed signed up since because you teach Internet marketing in a way that isn’t boring like the others. Keep in mind that a 15 y/o just said your entertaining. I focus on making money by leveraging “free.” Because everyone likes to get quality information for free right. It’s perceived as free because it doesn’t cost anything to join an email list.
I think most of what you say many newbie’s already know deep down where they are going wrong, but it your voice that makes us wake up and gets us energized to take the right path and keep going.
That’s why I am still on your list and deleted most of the others.
I actually went on a self-imposed IM ‘noise’ abstinence… (the results are on my blog).
I found it hugely helpful, but one thing Jason Moffatt said about it all came true – he said that other stuff would come and fill this ‘new’time I had by not being on lists, cruising blogs and whatever it was that took up all my time. Like I said, he was right, but luckily forewarned is forearmed, so I managed to catch myself and get focused on the tasks at hand.
Great Audio Michael, very good of you to help us all in this way.
So nice to hear your voice. You put a smile on my face cuz I remember your funny sense on humor when I was in “The Golden Thread”. I’m still working on my business and still feel like a newbie although I’ve been around a while. I sure can relate to “BUYING TOO MUCH”. I have so many ebooks that I need to read but I’m too busy trying to get my sites ranked.
Thank you Michael! I wish I heard this months ago but better late than never. When I narrow down my lists I’ve joined, you’re staying on it (& Frank Kern of course)!
Hi Michael,
Really dont know how you do it. I am listening to you after a space of time, becos’ as can be expected, I am also on “everybody’s” list. Also I have a problem listening to the video’s. They keep buffering every 2 minutes and that is very frustrating and kills the “Momentum”. i dont have that kind of time. So many times, i dont go through the full video, but give up. However this audio which I listened to right through, and after a very long time was “vintage Michael Cheney” stuff. You’re the same -mnot changed a bit – you’re honest, you’re funny, you’re verrry helpful AND you make perfect sense. I dont know when I’m ever going to make money.(sigh) but it was nice listening to you again after a long time. May the force be with you.
I am just starting out, you’re right about there being a lot of options and information available that it can become over wehlming. Using this audio on a frequent basis should help to keep me focused and get through the internet maze. Thanks for taking the time to put this audio together. Very much appreciated.
Great Michael, as always. More common sense information. It’s just too easy for us newbies to sign up to everything and then have too many e-mails to read, and no time to create or take action.
Hev promised myself to smarten up and just get on with it.
Great advise and audio, I know why I continue to follow you. Matter of fact, I’ve been getting to many requests from “Lists” and have been cutting those down. So, all your points ring loud and true.
It’s because of my past dealings with you that I elected to open this email. Thanks for the awesome insight, you’ve given me some wonderful ideas that I expect will prove to become very beneficial.
Michael, As a newbie this is some great information. I tend to become paralyzed by information overload. I also have found that the available information assumes that you have knowledge of the lingo and this hangs me up. The step by step processes I have seen to date need to be key stroke by key stroke, and they fall short of that and therefore not very duplicatable, small things tend to trip me up.
Thank you,I enjoy your straight forward approach.
Ok Michael Cheney, I have listened to the nine newbie no no’s and the thing that really caught my attention was the fact that you have made a million dollars in a week??? And, helping people so. . .if that is REALLY the truth and you have and are doing these things then I need your help!!!! And before you bother to reply(if you even do??) if it is going to cost me a bunch of money for this product or that product or I have to join this or that then we are wasting each others time because I have been burn sooooo many times that for most the part I don’t believe anything anyone says on the internet anymore and I am so very broke that I can’t even pay attention!!! Plus, just being tired of being duped I am beginning to believe there is absolutely nothing that I could do on the internet that would generate any positive cash flow! I have been screwed, I am bleeding red ink to the point that I should have ‘idiot’ tattooed on my forehead!!! Hence the expression screwed, blued and tattooed!!!!
Ok, here is the thing, if you can help and I am actually able to generate a honest to goodness income then I will tell anyone that will listen that you are for real and that you speak the truth. If not, well. . . thanks for reading this far and have a good life lying to people.

Thank you Michael. I am at No 7 not knowing what to do next in marketing. I have done all of the other six no no’s. I just want to create more traffic and more sales. I am not looking to be a millionaire, just making a living and to be blessed that I may bless others.
Thank you for all the great information, I just wish I would have had it a year ago.
My notes: You can use this precis for busy readers
NEWBIE NO-NO’S
1. Forums: Don’t spend too long in forums
2. Lists: Websites – don’t join too many
gmail.com for free emails
3. Niche: Concentrate on your niche
4. Start a list: Give free stuff in exchange.
5. Buy knowledge:
6. Don’t buy too much but keep up to date.
7. Be clear on what your aims are.
8. Don’t have unrealistic aims
9. Selling is about people and relationships
Thanks for the advice. I am trying the personal approach with my latest website. As an old fella I have many bowstrings and am using them to trade. My tip is to apply to new lists using a temporary email address then every so often you can delete the email address from your mail reader, leaving unwanted emails floating in the ether.
Hahah. Brilliant content like always buddy!
I have your Golden thread program which i love, still yet to make money, but man i have learned so much from it!!!! The $$$ is coming soon.
I follow a lot of top marketers, but to me, your the best out there. Will always be following you Michael.
Scotty
Thanks for the audio. Most gurus now use videos forgetting that most of us do not have fast broadband connections, so now every time I receive a video, I just delete it. I suggest you continue using audio.
What you said is real. I had invested in a few courses, but it is the Kick-Off that is hard to do. I suggest you could work out a simple step-by-step say “9 step launch Plan” so newbies can follow at their own pace. Well I have invested in the Courses… now I would like to learn “How to build & use the List”… “Select the Nitche”… “Create Campaigns”… etc…
Thanks for reinforcing my Plans for IM.. I am more motivated now.. yah, I can put in 8 hrs/day now..
I totally agree with everything you said Michael. Thanks for all you do in the internet marketing world. I have always thought you give out valuable information. Keep it coming man. Lot’s of newbies out there need this stuff! Have a good one.
Great audio, great information, I myself have made a lot of the mistakes you mentioned, especially joining too many mailing lists. I used to spend around 2 hours a day just wading through useless information. I have now unsubscribed from lots of them and have more time to concentrate on the job in hand.
THANK YOU….I am the poster person for all these mistakes.
I have purchase several programs and have not done a thing.
I guess I am afraid to start.
I don’t know what I am doing.
Thanks for the audio, very informative and great as a ‘refer to’ when it all seems to get a bit too much. I have been involved with IM for only 6 weeks now and as a ‘newbie’ it’s great to receive information like this, without the usual pitch accompanying it. I also like how you’ve used the audio to generate user content on your blog and additions to your list. I love seeing this in action as it’s further proof that the sytem works.
Thank you Michael for giving newbie no nos.
I am finding I have to fight most of those with the information overload out there. I want to start a internet business and am having a hard time just sorting thru everything and finding one that will work that I con do with little or no money since I have little $.
You’ve certainly hit on the core no no’s that most of us can relate to…as one who receives 60-90 emails a day, I try to be selective about which ones to open but still get sucked in by some slick copywriting. The “select all” and delete exercise is a regular part of my routine.
In addition to “Junk Email” software, maybe there should be something called a “Crap Filter” (Norwegian for Crap) that could spot crafty copywriters and warn us that we are being delivered another load…
As I was listening to this audio I grabbed a pen and pad and started writing the list of “no no’s” down for future reference.
Number 4 (not building your list) and number 9 (forgetting it’s about people) stuck out to me the most!
I started making money through posting massive blogs and articles online (the income wasn’t too shabby but still not enough to live off of)… WITHOUT building a list!
And the fact that I’ve read “the money is in the list” and “start building your list immediately” far too many times then I can remember… It’s about time I hear it again!
I have my goals straight now after the new year came and went (2010), I have my game plan down and I know exactly what to do.
The other 7 are a good reminder to hear again as well.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for this great audio. You are one of the top internet marketing experts that I look upto for guidance and support. The audio recording was very detailed and informative. I learned a lot from you.

Thanks Michael!
Sometimes I think you need to be refreshed of the basics to go further, even if you’re doing fairly well already! Listening to it right now

Michael,
Thanks for the great information. This is good information for any new person wanting to learn to promote on the web. I know it will be useful for any newbie.

thanks for the audio.

It is so much clearier to me now, as you have opened up my
brain to the things i need to do.
Especially no no number (9) forgetting people.
Thanks very much,

Hi Michael,
This helps a lot – can relate to most of it – thanks
Thanks man, information overload is exactly what kept me back from having succes for years.
Best,
Jared
Michael,
Back in October 2008 I purchased Golden Thread and built 3
websites and hosted them on Keosk: or so I thought.
Apparently I did a lousy job since I have not been able to
get Google to acknowledge that they exist–as well as Yahoo.
Still have’nt given up an am going back into your videos and Laura and John’s help e-mails.
I willt try and revive my websites and build others.
I got a lot out out of th9 Newbie No No’s.
I thing I have broken every one of them except no. 5.
Loyd Hill
Thank you for your continuing hdelp.
INEEED HELP…
Michael,
Thanks for the great audio. You’ve definitely pointed out a couple of areas where I can improve.
Please continue you’re one of the guys I read that hasn’t become background chatter.
Philip
Hey Michael,
A great audio.
Linked from name.

thanks for the tips, as I am a newbie
thank you again for being an outstanding source of wisdom.

Hi Michael
I score a point on 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8 !
It has always been that I want to learn how to make money myself, so that I can help other people make money.
I am now concentrating on choosing a niche.
Thanks for your help
Janice
What about no no #10 ???
)
NOT having fun along the way!! Take time to enjoy life, family friends and community!
Neil
Michael,
Thanks a bunch for good old “common sense”….Truly refreshing.
Mike Prado
Hi Michael,
Great to hear from you, we have spoken before via your Golden thread program, which was great!
Take care.
Tony
Hi Michael,
Enjoyed 9 newbie no nos very much. Thank you–it always helps to know someone is out there lending moral support. This venture has been so frustrating at times it is hard to focus and keep a positive attitude. There have been days that I just want to give it up.
Gives me encouragement
Thank you
Dear Michael
I can’t thank you enough for this audio, so generous in
information for people like me, newbies.
I’m taking action on your recomendations, don’t want to
be redundant, the 9 of them are 100% truth and are
happening to me at this moment.
Is a great feeling you know, like yourself being just
by my side telling me “enough Roberto”, this is the way
it should be in order to be succesful in this business.
Thanks again. God bless you
Thank you for the audio Michael.
Tracy
Thank you, Michael!
It’s sad but I can relate to probably 6 or 7 of your Newbie No-nos and listening to you define them made me realize it’s time to get off my backside and do something instead of being a professional IM student!
Thank you again for the wake-up call!
Mary
Hi Michael,
Great! – Very clear (as usual) and excellent advice (also as usual). I confess to falling into at least 5 of these traps. I’ll try harder.
Brian
Thanks Michael. Great Video. Great Content. Great words of wisdom. I’m guilty of some of these myself. Haven’t had a chance to be guilty of some of the others because I’m too new to IM – but now I hope that I can avoid them.
Great audio, spot on, 9/9. Thanks.
you are absolutely spot on about your meager beginings, as i’m now there…months of trying all sorts of new products…being bombarded with a wealth of information…and now at my wits end….the next step is for me is to packup….and go back to finding a 50hr a week job…to pay for all the money i now owe debtors….this is really got me thinking again positively….thanx Mike,i’ll keep on trying…..
Hey Michael,
Great content as usual. You’re always entertaining and informative. I believe that just about anyone new in Internet Marketing should listen to this recording.
I’ve caught myself doing several of these things over the last few months, and can say without a doubt that they’re easy to fall into and not even realize it.
Take care,
Karl
Hello Michael,
Great post, enjoyed listening to it. I have made several of the mistakes you mentioned. I have not built up my list at all and will now start to build a list.
Thanks,
Mike
Great advice! Thanks!
I enjoyed those 9 newbe no no’s. iwish they didn’t apply to me, but they do. Thanks Mike for the great infomtion
Greetings Michael,
The points you make in “9 Newbie No No’s” would have saved me countless hours wasted on “chasing too many rabbits” at once. Your presentation is clearly going to benefit a whole
lot of people…assuming people starting out listen closely and use the information to their advantage!
It seems to me that even so-called veteran marketers would do well to give this audio a close listen. Many thanks for your efforts.
All the best,
Jon
Only someone who’s been there, and has succeeded in spite of all the mistakes, can explain those mistakes as honestly and as straightforwardly as Michael has done.
Yes, I’ve had those “drowning in new email offers” days too, and Michael knows about their perils, AND his solution makes sense – it’s not quick half-advice at all.
Not only will I give him more credence and attention from now on, but I’ll be passing on the URL for this audio to a few friends!
Thanks for taking the stress out of starting by being encouraging that we can do it and sharing your knowledge with us.
Dear Michael!
Thank You for this great message!
I am a “newbee” who already realized these risky things, and about to change. Your warnings are very valuable, thanks for them!
Sandor
Enjoyed the video. looking forward to the next one. You’re a wonderful teacher
Hi Michael,
I really enjoyed and appreciated your ‘newbie no no’s’, but I’ll tell you something, your are made for VIDEO’S!
Hi Michael
Than you very much for the great advise
Chia Kurdi
Michael,
It is amazing how many forget some of the basics and how many more have no clue.
Michael.
Cheers
morerd
Thanx.
Hi Michael,
Your nine points of failure resonate with me totally. Been there and done that drowning in a load of info instead of just doing it.
Was stuck on picking a niche for ages. Really sucks just spinning your wheels.
Keep up the good info
Peter
Hi,
Thanks, for the audio.
Regards,
Victor
Hi Michael, I’ve been part of your list since you launched the Golden Thread program. I have stayed signed up since because you teach Internet marketing in a way that isn’t boring like the others. Keep in mind that a 15 y/o just said your entertaining. I focus on making money by leveraging “free.” Because everyone likes to get quality information for free right. It’s perceived as free because it doesn’t cost anything to join an email list.
Please stay the same,
Ameen

P.S. Go on another cruise and tape it
Thank You For keeping Us On Track Michael.
I think most of what you say many newbie’s already know deep down where they are going wrong, but it your voice that makes us wake up and gets us energized to take the right path and keep going.
That’s why I am still on your list and deleted most of the others.
Thanks again.
Craig
Excellent post Michael, loved it.
Best Regards from Bolton Town,
Tony
So nice to hear your voice. You put a smile on my face cuz I remember your funny sense on humor when I was in “The Golden Thread”. I’m still working on my business and still feel like a newbie although I’ve been around a while. I sure can relate to “BUYING TOO MUCH”. I have so many ebooks that I need to read but I’m too busy trying to get my sites ranked.
I’m keeping the faith and keep on truckin’
Michael,
Great advise and audio, I know why I continue to follow you.
All the best, and THANKS again.
Mike S
Excellent tips Michael! I agree, building a list is one of the most important things you can do no matter what niche you are in.

Thanks Michael.
I am still trying to figure out where to start.
Just spent 3 days cleaning viruses off my computer from downloading too many free this and thats.
I will figure it out.
Thanks for your help in sorting it out somewhat.
Robert
Wow, I think the only thing I didn’t do was, stay too long in the Forums.
Who had the time? I definately had information overload.
I have been following you for a while now, collecting ebooks, info and just some really good tips.
I love it when someone talks straight up, no b.s.
Thanks for everything.
I hope to meet you in the future, perhaps at a seminar (with me as a guest speaker). That’s My Goal!
Thanks for confirming to me, that it Can Be Done.
You’re Great.
LauraB
My notes: You can use this precis for busy readers
NEWBIE NO-NO’S
1. Forums: Don’t spend too long in forums
2. Lists: Websites – don’t join too many
gmail.com for free emails
3. Niche: Concentrate on your niche
4. Start a list: Give free stuff in exchange.
5. Buy knowledge:
6. Don’t buy too much but keep up to date.
7. Be clear on what your aims are.
8. Don’t have unrealistic aims
9. Selling is about people and relationships
Thanks for the advice. I am trying the personal approach with my latest website. As an old fella I have many bowstrings and am using them to trade. My tip is to apply to new lists using a temporary email address then every so often you can delete the email address from your mail reader, leaving unwanted emails floating in the ether.
OMG i;m gonna unsubscribe all these 10.00000 lists im in
Simply the best! keeping it simple and straight! thanks
Hahah. Brilliant content like always buddy!
I have your Golden thread program which i love, still yet to make money, but man i have learned so much from it!!!! The $$$ is coming soon.
I follow a lot of top marketers, but to me, your the best out there. Will always be following you Michael.
Scotty
Awesome audio Michael! This really helped me refresh my mind about the points you made. I will pass this on to my fellow marketers. Thanks!
Hey Michael,
Thanks for the FREE help. Now to implement your suggestions!
Hi Michael,
Thanks for the audio.
Philip
I totally agree with everything you said Michael. Thanks for all you do in the internet marketing world. I have always thought you give out valuable information. Keep it coming man. Lot’s of newbies out there need this stuff! Have a good one.
Gilbert
Hi Michael,
Great audio, great information, I myself have made a lot of the mistakes you mentioned, especially joining too many mailing lists. I used to spend around 2 hours a day just wading through useless information. I have now unsubscribed from lots of them and have more time to concentrate on the job in hand.
Christine
THANK YOU….I am the poster person for all these mistakes.
I have purchase several programs and have not done a thing.
I guess I am afraid to start.
I don’t know what I am doing.
Hi Michael
Thanks for the audio, very informative and great as a ‘refer to’ when it all seems to get a bit too much. I have been involved with IM for only 6 weeks now and as a ‘newbie’ it’s great to receive information like this, without the usual pitch accompanying it. I also like how you’ve used the audio to generate user content on your blog and additions to your list. I love seeing this in action as it’s further proof that the sytem works.
Thanks again for the tips

Thank you Michael for giving newbie no nos.
I am finding I have to fight most of those with the information overload out there. I want to start a internet business and am having a hard time just sorting thru everything and finding one that will work that I con do with little or no money since I have little $.
Thanks again for giving great advice.
Robert
Right On Michael!
Many thanks for the great audio!
All the best,
Jon
Thank you Michael!
