Outsourcing is being talked about as the ‘next big thing’ though in reality it’s been around for years!
The simple idea behind it, is that instead of spending hours trying to do something yourself (particularly when it isn’t your specialism) you get someone from outside to do it for you.
Now the expensive route to doing this might be to take on a member of staff on a full-time or part-time basis. You might even want to consider using a local recruitment agency to fill your needs.
But the only difficulty with that route is that it’s fairly inflexible - what if you have a very small project you need assistance on or you just need an ‘extra pair of hands’ for a couple of hours? Then what?
Looking At The Bigger Picture
The beauty of the Internet is that there are literally thousands of people with expertise all over the world who are just waiting for the right piece of work to come along. These super-nerds can do anything for your website from build a shopping cart to create a new database of content for you.
But even better than that is that you can also outsource the menial, dead easy stuff too and free up your time to grow your business. You can use an outsourcing website to find someone who will:
- Write articles for you
- Create new products for you
- Build / redesign your website
- Create new pieces of software
- ANYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF!!!
It’s As Easy As R - A - C
Rentacoder.com (or RAC as people there refer to it) is an excellent site that uses the Ebay-type format - only the bids are for projects.
As the business owner you create a spec for what it is you want to get achieved and then ‘coders’ place bids on doing the work. And these guys are from all over the world! You can get bids from Romania, US, Thailand and beyond!
The great thing is you can check the history of each individual and, just like Ebay, previous buyers can pass comments on the ‘goods delivered’ so you never (in theory) choose the wrong coder.
And don’t let the name put you off - it’s not just coding you can use the site for - marketing, content creation, article-writing - you name it, it’s all there!
