It says, I’m God, f-you, you’re worthless instead of using the sign-off as an opportunity to sell more, just like your leave page popups.

Very, very bad marketing.”

This guy was talking about my email signature where I tell people to go unsubscribe if they can’t take the heat. Here’s my response to this guy;

“Hmm, interesting. I make anywhere from $50k – $100k a month sending emails so it’s working pretty well

And I would rather make LESS money and get rid of douchebags whiners who think they know better than try and “serve people” more with roll-over marketing that’s afraid to say it like it is.

You gotta polarize people – lesson #1 in marketing, and my sign-off has definitely worked its magic on you.

I’ve unsubscribed you.”

The lesson?

There’s several;

1. Don’t let anyone tell you how to run your business (especially if they came to you for advice in the first place)

2. Always stand your ground and be yourself rather than try to please everyone

3. The best way to afford yourself the luxury of choosing who your customers are (rather than giving them all the power) is being able to make lots of commissions on demand.
