The following takes place between the hours of 03:30am and 04:30am this morning…
I wake from a fitful sleep with a start;
“Oh crap – I’ve forgotten to tell my hosting company about the hundreds of thousands of people who will be coming to my website for today’s launch.”
Cue frantic scrabbling for my iPhone in the dark.
I text my tech guy there Richard and he says;
“No probs – I’ll just reboot your server and add in more memory and beef up the core.”
I have no idea what that means but I know it means the server won’t crash when all the traffic slams it today.
Then comes the problem…
“Michael, you’re not gonna like this but I can’t get back in. Your server has locked me out and all your websites are offline and…
I don’t think I can fix this in time for launch.”
Total. Disaster.
