“It’s the most wonderful time of the year?”
Really Mr. Andy Williams?
Because in my neck of the woods the impending festivities add a tangible sense of stress to proceedings.
Take today;
The missus was trying to construct a cardboard “Christmas House” for the kids to play in.
Great intentions right?
Except the darned thing came without a roof.
(Apparently, thanks to Brexit probably, the manufacturers had decided you should use the box it came in to fashion a roof out of).
Now I would have waded in and helped her myself but I was heading out for the day to the accounts (meeting about our bumper year).
“Just wait until I get back and I’ll help you with it then.”
“Why would I want your help?!?!”, came the ear-steamed reply.
I quickly exited the building.
This drives me crazy.
When some people get stressed, mad and frustrated with something they sometimes can’t even accept help.
Newbies do it all the time.
“I’m so broke.” “I’m so stuck.” “I’m so overwhelmed.”
And yet you try to help them and they do nothing.
So let me beg of you;
If you’re in a financial pickle right now, if you’re upto your eyeballs in it and if there’s no way on Earth you can make it to Edinburgh for me to give you a $1.1M per year business process then;
YOU, of all people, are the person who should be moving the Earth to get here.
Do something to help yourself.
Step up. Step forward. Take the leap of faith and surprise yourself.
If you keep doing what you’ve always done – you’ll keep getting what you’ve always got.
